Domestic wash icons | EN ISO 3758
Below you can find an overview of the most common domestic wash and care symbols according to EN ISO 3758. These icons help you understand whether your garment can be washed, bleached, tumble dried, ironed or dry-cleaned, and under which conditions
Washing care symbols
The tub symbol indicates whether a garment can be washed at home, by hand or in a washing machine. The number shows the maximum temperature. A line under the tub means a mild programme is required; two lines indicate a very mild programme.
DID YOU KNOW?
Bleaching care symbols
A triangle symbol tells you if bleaching is allowed. To preserve the protective qualities and colours of your garment, we advise against using bleach.
Drying care symbols
A square with a circle indicates tumble drying is permitted. The number of dots shows the correct temperature setting.
Ironing care symbols
The flat iron symbol specifies whether the garment may be ironed, and at what temperature.
Dry-cleaning symbols
A circle symbol indicates whether professional dry-cleaning is possible, and which solvents may be used.
Industrial laundering of protective clothing | EN 15797 (procedure 8)
The methods described in this International Standard simulate the effect of industrial laundering on workwear.
The standard specifies test procedures and equipment which can be used in the evaluation of workwear intended to be industrially laundered. Each washing procedure is considered to represent a single industrial wash. They serve as a basis for testing relevant properties such as e.g. dimensional stability, colourfastness, creasing and seam puckering.
A complete laundering test consists of a washing and a drying/finishing procedure. For this type of workwear procedure 8 of the standard is applicable at a washing temperature of 75°C followed by tumble drying. The majority of the multinorm workwear garments of Sioen PRO are suitable for industrial washing and the flame-retardant properties are tested after minimum 50 industrial wash-and-dry cycles (some after 100 cycles). Conformity to the certified flame-retardant standards is still guaranteed after the indicated number of washing and drying cycles.
